Misty mountains

The first few days we've been out in Tucson it's been really rainy - which makes the moutains behind our house misty in the mornings. It almost looks like the mounatins around Seattle (except for the palm trees).

Moving in

We convinced the moving guys to come a day early (apparenly they aren't too busy right now). So they off loaded all of our stuff on Thursday. We are still unpacking now, and we've only found a couple of broken things so far, so not bad. We'll post more pictures once we get things unpacked.
Once we crossed over the border from New Mexico into Arizona there were some really cool rock formations. They kind of look like Elephant rocks back in Missouri.

Santa Fe

The cathedral is really nice actually in side - very well maintained (they must have a lot of money up here). They were redoing the whole place for the 400th anniversary of Santa Fe.

However the entire town of Santa Fe is under contruction right now - the famous plaza and the church seen here.

Cute mailbox. :)

We stopped in Santa Fe for a little break before finishing our trip. It is a really fun town - lots of cool looking buildings, shopping and restuarants.

Driving across Texas..

Though there were the occasional windmills to lighten thing up.

This is what we had to look at for hours.

Amarillo

This is the closest David and Erika got to trying the 72 oz steak. We went for the 8 oz strip lunch special instead. :0

Their claim to fame is that you can eat for free - if you can eat a 72 oz steak in 60 minutes. This is the stage in the middle of the room for the attempts.

After our drive out of Oklahoma we stopped at the Big Texas steakhouse in Amarillo for lunch.

Missouri Food

Erika and David visit Eddie's Doughnuts for the last time in St. Louis. He makes the best doughnuts we've ever had - sadly Eddie was absent this morning.

David hadn't ever experienced Lambert's cafe (home of the throwed rolls) so we stopped off at the Ozark location while on our way out of Missouri.

David trying to attract the attention of a server to get a roll. Note the giant cup of iced tea - I guess it is more efficient?

Leaving St. Louis

Karl and Britni were up to see us off. I'm sure they'll be glad to get their house back.

The little PT was packed to the gills. Guess Erika was right about shipping her lab stuff on Friday instead of taking it in the car. :)
